Ooooh, a Planetary Computer…?

In 2020, Microsoft made a commitment to become carbon negative, zero waste and water positive. Which is great…but they’re taking it even further than that. They’re building a planetary computer.

For someone with a love for tech, data and the natural environment, this is the kind of thing that really gets my attention. The planetary computer will “use AI and the power of cloud-based computing, to convert what was previously considered inconceivable amounts of data about Earth’s natural systems into actionable insights and information”.

Global Skills initiative supports digital recovery?

The last 11 months have brought about drastic change and multiple challenges on a global scale. Nobody really knows what things will look like six months on from here. But one thing’s for sure, the world will never go back to how it was pre-Covid-19.

As a response to this, Global Skills was launched in June 2020 with Microsoft, LinkedIn and GitHub collaborating on an initiative to help 25 million people worldwide gain the digital skills needed in a Covid19 economy. In just seven months, the initiative has reached more than 13 million learners – from 231 countries and territories.

We think that’s worth shouting about!

So, what exactly is DMPO??

Ever wondered just exactly what DMPO means? In our new series of videos, Ask Azured, we answer all those questions about cloud tech that you were too afraid to ask…

This week Dimitrie Sandu, Senior Solutions Engineer at VMware Velocloud, explains the concept of Dynamic Multipath Optimisation…

If you have a question you’d like answered (about SD-WAN, or anything else cloud-related that is) we’d love to hear from you.

SD-WAN Explainer Animation?

Nerd alert!!! The concept of SD-WAN is pretty complex to get your head around. Well, we’ve had a crack at it and (with any luck) this short explainer animation goes some way to de-mystifying this technology, for all us Trekkies out there.

Are UK businesses embracing emerging technology??

Working with YouGov in 2020, BT spoke to business leaders across the country how they use emerging technology; their current set-up and their future plans.

The findings are enlightening and concerning; “UK plc is not failing to adopt transformational technology because of a backwards … attitude to the digital future. Rather, companies do not yet understand how these intelligent technologies can drive the performance of their business”.

Digital transformation is complex. A 2019 McKinsey survey found top performing businesses adopt digital strategies faster than their competitors.

But real change is not easy, another McKinsey study found that 70% of digital transformations fail!

With the impact of Covid expected to be felt for the next few years the pressure to integrate secure emerging tech is on – whether it’s at head office or the kitchen table. We successfully implement emerging tech and digital transformation projects (we’re not in that 70%!). Choosing the right partner is everything.

Market leading tech and intelligent thinking?

We strive to work with the best and as far as WAN edge infrastructure goes, there is no better choice than VMware SD-WAN by VeloCloud. Their market-leading technology is truly top notch… just ask Gartner. It’s the unique intelligence of VeloCloud’s SD-WAN technologies combined with the assurance of VMware’s partnership with Microsoft that made their solution an easy choice for Azured’s NWaaS.

How SD-WAN is changing the way the world works?

We’re all using ever greater amounts of data to keep our businesses moving. We need to work together across continents, but we still want to make things happen more quickly. We need to increase our productivity, but without increasing the cost, or compromising safety.

We’re also using networking technologies mostly based on ideas that, though revolutionary in the 1970s, have largely stood still while the world has changed around them.

It’s time for something new.

Azure makes it possible. Azured makes it easy.

Meet the team…?

All the best ideas come from a beer, a beach and a BBQ…Azured started out in sunny Melbourne, and we quickly became no.1 Microsoft Azure Partner in Australia. In 2019 we packed up our parasols and launched in the UK.

We’re a cloud network and security company, helping SMEs work safely from home. We combine market-leading SD-WAN technology from VMWare VeloCloud with next-gen firewall technology from Palo Alto.

Azure makes it possible. Azured makes it easy.
